Analysis of Motivation in The Lyrics of the Song “Fix You” by Cold Play

This objective of this research to find out the motivational meaning contained inthe lyrics of the song 'fix you' by coldplay. using Ferdinand de Sausure's semioticanalysis.Data analysis in this research referred to the effort to find meaning in thesigns contained in the lyrics of the song popularized by Coldplay, usingSaussure's semiotic approach to understand the motivational meaning of thelyrics. Subsequently, data analysis was conducted by dividing the entire songlyrics into several stanzas. Using Saussure's semiotic theory, which focused on theway signs (in this case, words) relate to the research object, the theoretical modeldirected attention specifically to the sign itself. The author then discovered theactual meaning of the words by dividing the entire song lyrics into severalstanzas. Each stanza of the song lyrics was analyzed using Saussure's semiotictheory, which included the elements of signifier and signified. These elementswere separated, making it easier for the author to interpret the lyrics of the songpopularized by Coldplay, which were then related to the social reality present atthe time the creator composed the song. This research was conducted in Sorong,Southwest Papua, Indonesia This research concludes that the The motivationalmeaning in Coldplay's song "Fix You" was that we must learn to accept everychallenge in life with sincerity and believe that God was always with us in anysituation. God would replace every bad or sad problem in our lives with othergood things, even better ones
