Abstract
This research was conducted to find out the English teachers’ perception of thetransition from two thousand thirteen (2013) curriculum to the merdeka curriculum atSMP Negeri 11 Sorong Regency and SMP Muhammadiyah Sorong Regency. Thedesign of this research is descriptive qualitative. Five English teachers, three teachersfrom SMP Negeri 11 Sorong Regency and two teachers from SMP MuhammadiyahSorong Regency was chosen by the researcher as sample. In collecting data, theresearcher used interview, it is consist of 10 questions which cover the point to answerthe English teachers’ perception. From the result, it showed that the research providesvaluable insights into the perceptions of English teachers regarding the transition fromthe 2013 Curriculum to the Merdeka Curriculum. While the new curriculum offersbenefits such as flexibility and a focus on holistic student development, it also presentssignificant challenges, particularly in training, resources, and technological adoption.Addressing these issues will be vital for the successful and equitable implementationof the Merdeka Curriculum across Indonesia’s diverse educational landscape.
