Abstract
This study investigates the influence of Radiotelephony Practice on thespeaking and listening skills of initial student pilots at the Lombok Institute ofFlight Technology. Radiotelephony practice is the systematic integration ofsimulated aviation communication scenarios into the training curriculum toimprove students' proficiency in verbal communication and comprehension withinthe context of aviation terminology and procedures. Speaking skill for initial pilotstudents is the proficiency demonstrated in effectively conveying andcomprehending verbal information. Listening skills of initial pilot students can beoperationally defined as the ability to accurately comprehend and respond toverbal instructions and communications. The primary aim is to determine whetherradiotelephony practice significantly impacts the development of these criticalcommunication skills. The sample consists of seven students, and the researchadopts a pre-experimental design with pretest and posttest assessments. Theresults reveal a significant improvement in both speaking and listening skills, asevidenced by the T-test scores, which were lower than the alpha value of 0.05,indicating statistical significance. This study underscores the importance oftargeted interventions and continued practice in radiotelephony to ensure that pilotstudents achieve the necessary communication competence for their professionalroles.
